What is the
difference between the National Guard and the New York Guard?
The New York Guard serves to
augment and assist the NY National Guard. We have the same responsibilities
as the National Guard, but without the federal mission. We serve voluntarily
within New York State and cannot be deployed overseas.
What is the mission of the 56th Brigade?
Recruit, organize and
maintain a Brigade sized unit capable of executing state authorized
missions assigned to it from Army Division, New York Guard
